Help us make Norway's coziest con 🧡

We are looking for new organizers!

Update: We want more applicants, and have therefore removed the application deadline.

An organizer has more responsibility, and has larger and more important tasks than a regular volunteer. Some organizers work alone, while some are leaders of their own group of volunteers. In addition, all organizers collaborate across their areas of work and have regular meetings for updates and planning of Torucon's events.

Read more about the positions and send us your application and CV now!

You can do this as a volunteer.

  • Activities

Helping to keep track of the various activities that take place around the events and making sure that panels, talks, stands and the like have what they need, or getting help if they don't.

    Activity volunteers can work with:
    - Pokémon tournaments
    - ToruShip
    - K-pop
    - And much more!

  • Arcade

The arcade offers activities in the form of various games on different consoles, and also organizes its own tournaments and competitions. Volunteers working in the arcade initiate and monitor the activities, and are responsible for taking care of the technical equipment.
Volunteers in the arcade also assist relevant invited guests, such as game developers and speakers.

  • Decoration (18+)

Decor volunteers create backdrops, props and various decorations to fit the theme of the event, or as needed. All this work is done outside of our events, and as a thank you for their efforts, decor volunteers get to attend events as regular guests! This means that they can wear cosplay, or dress exactly as they want. We still expect them to help with set-up and tear-down for the events they work on.

To get time off during the event, we require decor volunteers to work at least 22 hours before Torucon, but we will also look at effort and commitment. This is to prevent people signing up for decor to get free entry but still not helping out.

There is a lot of work to be done, so we rely on decor volunteers to be self-driven and able to work independently.

Volunteers in Decoration must be at least 18 years old.

  • Film and photography

Our film team is responsible for filming things that happen on stage, and collaborates with tech on audio recording, as well as filming lectures, panels, and a little bit of everything that takes place during the event. Torucon has its own film cameras and equipment, but if you have your own camera, tripod, microphones or similar, you are free to use this as well. It is an advantage to have steady hands and previous experience with filming.

Torucon has a number of external photographers who share their photos with us, but these are mainly cosplay photographers. We therefore tend to have some volunteer internal photographers to get more pictures of things that happen, and more pictures that can be used on the website, for posters and the like. Volunteer photographers must provide their own photo equipment and must have previous experience of photography.

  • Wardrobe

Fits clothes, bags and anything else visitors want to leave behind. The cloakroom can be a hectic area at times, so you should be able to cope with a fast pace.

  • Information (18+)

Information is Torucon's reception desk, which has an overview of what is happening during the weekend. They answer questions and provide information to guests, about the program, activities and the premises, and provide general assistance. They also take care of forgotten items.

In addition, Information is a hub for the festival where all registration, information, help and communication takes place. They log relevant events and submit a report at the end of the day.

Volunteers in Information must be at least 18 years old, be service-minded and able to cope with occasional high pace/pressure.

  • Medic (18+)

Medic volunteers help out if injuries occur, make sure guests drink enough water and stay healthy.
Applicants for Medic should have completed a first aid course or have experience from a similar position.

Applicants for Medic must also have reached the age of 18.

  • Sales (18+)

Sales volunteers are responsible for selling tickets, checking tickets for those who already have them, and putting on ticket wristbands. In addition, sales volunteers will be responsible for selling merch and the like. These volunteers will be trained in how to use the ticketing system, both to register sales and to check tickets, and how to use iZettle, which is our Point of Sale system.

It is a great advantage if applicants have experience from a shop or similar, and have handled money before. You should also be comfortable talking to people and be able to cope with a fast pace.

Volunteers in Sales must be at least 18 years old.

  • Stage production (18+)

Stage production volunteers help get props on and off the stage, help attach and remove microphones, keep track of and provide information to contestants waiting for their turn, and more. They work closely with Sound, Light and Image.

Volunteers for Sceneproduksjon must be at least 18 years old.

  • Security (18+)

Overall responsibility for weapons checks, security and general order at Torucon. They are responsible for situations that may arise where people feel threatened, violated or otherwise feel unsafe. Must not be afraid to speak up or make contact with strangers.

Volunteers in Security must be at least 18 years old.

  • Selfie Hunt

This is an activity stand where guests are given different tasks, where they have to take a selfie with someone or something described on a task list. Volunteers check that these tasks have been completed correctly, keep track of how many points they have and award prizes to those who complete enough tasks.

  • Showcase

Torucon Showcase is responsible for the opening show. If you like being on stage, this is the job for you!

The work involves a good deal of preparation before Torucon itself, which means that volunteers have the opportunity to work enough hours via rehearsals etc. to have time off for the rest of the event. Showcase volunteers must therefore be available for meetings prior to Torucon to conduct rehearsals, write scripts, etc.

We are initially looking for volunteers over the age of 18, but if this sounds like something for you, you can apply even if you haven't turned 18 yet.

  • Quest Hub

Quest Hub works with the planning and execution of various Quests that guests can do during the event in return for prizes. Do you love doing puzzles or riddles, or maybe you like role-playing games? Then Quest Hub could be for you!

During the con, the main task will be to give out various assignments, approve and award prizes.
