Torucon is an annual festival for all people with fantastic pastimes, from sci-fi and fanatasy, to cosplay, LARP, Japanese pop culture, Kpop, gaming and board/role-playing games and everything else that fits under the big pop culture umbrella.

This year's con will take place at Clarion Hotel Trondheim, August 9-10.

During the weekend we offer exciting panels, lectures and workshops, competitions, quizzes and tournaments. We offer you the opportunity to showcase your creativity, whether you make costumes or props, jewelry or wands.

At Torucon you'll find amazing guests, brilliant stage performances and exciting stands.

Torucon is also one of the events where the winner of the Cosplay Master category in our Cosplay & Craftsmanship competition qualifies to represent Team Norway at the Nordic Cosplay Championship the following year.

Torucon is a place for anyone who loves geek culture, whether you live for Kpop, superheroes or Magic The Gathering, and our visitors span all age groups, with and without costumes.

Torucon was founded by a handful of enthusiasts in 2011, and is now Norway's largest convention of its kind, still run on a 100% voluntary basis.

In addition to our main event in August, we also hold smaller events throughout the year, such as our Halloween event, Toruween, and the ToruJôl mini-con during the Christmas season.

We also add color to the city when we appear at various events throughout the year.

All Torucon events are drug-free.

History of Torucon

Torucon is a voluntary event run by young enthusiasts who are passionate about nerd culture, and was founded as a reaction to the question "Why doesn't Trondheim have its own con?". This was something many had wondered, and the result was that the young people joined forces to add an extraordinary cultural event to Norway's third largest city.

Torucon was held for the first time on September 17, 2011, at the ISAK Cultural Center. At that time we attracted almost 400 visitors, and it was clear that this was something people had missed in Trondheim! The following year, the number of visitors had almost doubled, and when we exceeded the capacity at ISAK, we soon had to look for new premises.

In the years since, Torucon has expanded, growing in capacity as well as in program: In 2013, we expanded to two days, and were thus able to welcome more and more visitors from other parts of the country.

By 2014, the number of visitors had risen to 1,200, and Torucon had become the second largest event of its kind in Norway.

Since 2014, we have also expanded with several smaller events in addition to the main event; on May 17, we can be seen in the People's Train that winds through the city center, and since 2016 we are also a regular fixture in the PRIDE parade. We organized Toruween, a separate Halloween event for the first time in October 2014, and also hosted a Christmas party at ISAK on Christmas Day that same year.

In 2022, after some long, sad pandemic years, Torucon finally celebrated 10 years of our biggest and best event ever.

We're looking forward to another fantastic event at Clarion this year and promise to get even better at giving all our visitors the best experience they can have.

Welcome to us and Torucon Dark Ages 9-10.August!
