Description
We invite all aspiring Pokémon masters, big and small, to participate in Torucon's Pokémon VG tournament, where Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will be played. Get out your Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and join us as we once again fight for the toughest title; Torucon's Pokémon Master!
Registration and attendance
Registrations are only accepted at the connet itself, and it will be possible to register until approx. 14:45. We will only accept registrations after this time if it benefits the tournament. We would prefer that everyone who wants to participate shows up at Sirius by 14:50, and that all preparations are completed in time for us to start the tournament at 15:00.
We look forward to seeing you all during the tournament, and may your dream of becoming the best ever one day come true!
The following rules apply to the tournament:
It is played exclusively with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. It is allowed to play with downloaded versions of the games.
The tournament will be played with double elimination, which means that you will have to play at least twice. This means that you will have the opportunity to continue playing even if you are unlucky in the first match, and you can even still win the entire tournament. All matches will be played best of 1 until the final, where it will be played best of 3.
The matches will be played in a Double Battle format. The time limit will be detailed during the tournament.
You must have a minimum of 4 Pokémon on your team to participate, and the team must be designated as a Battle Team prior to the tournament. Changes to the team are not permitted after the tournament has begun.
You can use Pokémon with Paldea Pokédex #001-400, Kitakami Pokédex #001-200, and Blueberry Pokédex #001-242, as well as a selection of other Pokémon available via transfer from Pokémon HOME. For a full list of allowed Pokémon, please refer to Pokémon HOME or the game's Poké Portal for full information on Regulation Set I. Note that 2 restricted Pokémon are allowed per team.
All Pokémon in the team must have been caught or hatched in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet or transferred from Pokémon HOME.
Of the Pokémon that have a regional variant, it is allowed to use both forms as long as they meet the above rules.
All Pokémon in the team must be unique, which means that no two Pokémon can have the same number in the National Pokédex.
Pokémon on the team can hold items, but no one on the team can hold identical items.
It is permitted to use Terastallizing.
It is not allowed to use Greninja with Battle Bond.
Nicknames are allowed, but you cannot have the same nickname for two or more Pokémon. The nickname cannot be the same as another Pokémon's name or contain offensive words.
You are responsible for ensuring that your Switch is powered on throughout the tournament. There will be an opportunity to charge your Switch both before and during the tournament in the room where it is held, but we would prefer to avoid a participant being dependent on a charger to complete the tournament.
Prizes
The winner of the tournament will traditionally be awarded a set of Pokémon League badges, and this year we're heading to the Galar region, which means two sets of badges; one from Sword and one from Shield! The winner will also be given first choice of three cuddly toys from the same region.
